Josie Porter Farm, an Organic CSA

Perhaps one of the best ways to experience an area is through local food.  And for the Poconos it does not get more local than the Josie Porter Farm, an organic CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) and farm store nestled in the quaint village of Cherry Valley.  In addition to growing their own seasonal crops, the farmer’s market offers “healthy, whole foods from local and regional sources, a local food hub that offers honey, maple syrup, meat, cheese, eggs, salmon, and more.”

Delaware Water Gap - Hiking the Appalachian Trail
One of the most prominent views from the Appalachian Trail is the cascading Kittatinny Ridge that dramatically cuts in and overhangs the Delaware River, right in the Poconos’ very own Delaware Water Gap.  The gap itself spans nearly a mile thanks to the winding river that cuts through the mountains separating the New Jersey and Pennsylvania border.  The river actually contributes to the continual peak growth of the ridge, which is constantly shifting.

Big Pocono State Park
One of the best kept secrets amongst Pocono locals sits on the mountaintop surrounding Camelback ski resort.  The 1,306 acres of steep terrain overlooks the Mountain’s chairlifts and provides a 365-degree view of three states spanning Monroe and Jackson counties.  The park is uniquely positioned to see the famous Delaware Water Gap’s prominent silhouette.
