Buck Hill Skytop Music Festival Announces Its 7th Season

July 29- August 7, 2016- The Buck Hill Skytop Music Festival, a summer concert series dedicated to bringing world class artists up close and musical to its audiences in the Pocono Mountains, is pleased to announce their lineup for the seventh season, July 29- August 7, 2016.


The music festival presents a wide span of musical genres performed by world renowned performers. Their dedication to arts education for students in the Pocono Region drive the Festivals mission to providing opportunities in the Performing Arts and Technical Theater. Collaborations with the prestigious Lincoln Centers National Chorale and NYUs Tisch School for the Performing Arts makes us a one of a kind musical destination for world class artists to have a summer home in the beauty of the Pocono Mountains.


Led by Artistic Director, Joey Chancey, this exciting season is comprised of award winning performers and incredible musical acts. We are bringing you Broadway's finest performers; The Hot Sardines,

are hailed as “one of the best jazz bands in NY today” (Forbes Magazine); a Grammy Award winning Chamber String Quartet, The Harlem Quartet; Carmina Burana direct from Lincoln Center with The National Chorale; a new musical from the graduate writing program at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and so much more!


TASTING THE FESTIVAL- Friday, July 29, 5:30pm-Pocono Mountain East

Our Tasting the Festival Lawn Party will launch our seventh season into high gear and invites the community to come together to enjoy the Poconos artisan food trucks (Tex-Mex Tacos by Southwest Savory Grill, International Fusion Flavors by The Wandering Chef and Winner of Food Networks Cupcake Wars Dia Doce. Lawn games and live music will make this party an event not to be missed.


NOBODY DOES IT LIKE ME- Friday, July 29, 7:30pm- Pocono Mountain East

We kick off the 2016 season with a Broadway Pops concert Nobody Does It Like Me with some of Broadway brightest stars at the microphone, backed by some of the finest musicians in New York City making up the orchestra. These performers will give you the inside look into their journey from the audition room all the way to their opening night of the Broadway show that put them on the map. Tickets: $59 preferred/ $33 general/ $10 student


CARMINA BURANA- Saturday, July 30, 7:30pm- Pocono Mountain East

Direct from Lincoln Center, we will present the National Chorales performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. This concert will feature well known Opera arias, duets and trios by top singers in the industry followed by the Carmina Burana comprised of the Chorale, Soloists, two pianos and five

percussionists all under the musical direction of Dr. Everett McCorvey. opening night of the Broadway show that put them on the map.

THE HOT SARDINES- Sunday, July 31, 6:30pm- Skytop Lodge

On Sunday, July 31st we bring you the speakeasy stylings of The Hot Sardines. This unforgettable jazz band plays out to sold out houses across the U.S. Their music has been hailed as "Old-time Jazz with new-time energy and style”. Tickets will sell quickly and you will not want to miss this throw back to the roaring age of Jazz.

THE HARLEM QUARTET- August 4, 7:30pm- Tennis Tea at Buck Hill

Our second week at the Music Festival brings you the sophisticated sounds of the Harlem Quartet. This Grammy Award Winning group debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2006, toured around the world, and now they'll bring their love for cutting-edge classical music right to your back door. Tickets: $39 general/ $10 student


NYU WORLD PREMIERE MUSICAL- August 5, 7:30pm- Smith McFarland Theater at ESU This season, we have partnered with the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYUs Tisch School of the Arts to debut the world premiere of a brand new musical. In conjunction with our mission statement to "offer musical and educational programming" we are excited to give these young writers an opportunity to see their words come to life.

PERFORMING ARTS SUMMER CAMP SHOWCASE- August 6, 7:30pm- Smith McFarland Theater at ESU

We are thrilled to offering a brand new Summer Intensive for students interested and passionate about the performing arts. These high school aged students will participate in a 2 week summer camp with workshops in Acting, Dance, and Musical Theatre lead by leading professionals in the theatrical, dance and musical industry and will create an incredible showcase at the conclusion of their two weeks. Tickets: $29 general/ $10 student



Rounding out our educational opportunities, we offer a student apprenticeship for college age students interested in all aspects of technical theater. Students will work closely with our artistic staff and

festival performers in areas of stage management, lighting design, sound design, general management, backstage crew and prop and costume design. Part of this program includes a trip to New York City to see a hit Broadway show and a backstage tour. The Apprentice Program is led by Broadway veteran and TCU Theatre faculty member, Penny Ayn Maas.


THE FLOOR BELOW ME- August 7, 6:30pm- Skytop Lodge

Tony Award-nominee Tony Yazbeck heats up the stage with a tour de force performance in The Floor

Above Me, a thrilling evening of tenor melodies and tenacious tap dancing! In this not-to-be-missed evening, with tunes spanning from MGM to Joni Mitchell, Tony will weave tales from his first Broadway gig at age 11 (as a Newsboy in Tyne Dalys Gypsy) to his turn as Tulsa in the Patti LuPone revival, as well as share anecdotes from the professional and personal journey that has established him as Broadways leading song and dance man.
