Consider a Locally Sourced Thanksgiving Celebration

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to express gratitude for the abundance of locally grown foods available in and around Northeastern Pennsylvania and Sullivan County, NY.

Local farm markets, many of which run during November, are one option for sourcing vegetables, baked goods and turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner. There are well-established markets in Honesdale and Scranton, PA; and Callicoon and Barryville, NY. Some of these markets move indoors during the late fall and winter.

Food hubs, which aggregate and distribute locally sourced fresh produce and goods from regional family farms, are also a convenient option for holiday shoppers. Food hub subscribers pick up the makings of their Thanksgiving feast at one convenient location of their choosing in either PA or NY.

Lackawaxen Farm Co, a regional food hub out of Honesdale, PA is supplying Thanksgiving offerings from eight regional farms. Farm Fresh Turkeys are available from Butchie's Organic Farm in Cochecton, NY; and Quails R Us in Honesdale. Fresh vegetables will be supplied by The Anthill Farm and Far Away Farms in Honesdale; Willow Wisp Organic Farm in Damascus; Nonnenmacher Acres and Lato Sud in Beach Lake; and Somewhere in Time Farm in Parksville, NY.
