The inn offers an array of amenities for travelers seeking a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan life, couples in need of a romantic getaway or girlfriends celebrating a weekend of pampering. Set atop Huckleberry Mountain, the manor is situated on 42-acres with year round breathtaking vistas of the Northern Pocono Mountains.

Mining magnate, Joseph H. Hirshhorn, recognized for his extensive art collection, designed the manor as a retreat for his family and friends during the Great Depression of the 1930’s. Hirshhorns collection is housed in the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC.

Ron Logan; and his wife, Mary Kay, purchased the circa 1937 manor from Carolyn Balish, after her husband Dan’s death. The late Ron Logan recognized The French Manor as an opportunity to create a uniquely elegant inn and he and Mary Kay strove to keep the elegant flavor of the manor, while making subtle, yet important upgrades to the kitchen, the transformation of an unoccupied Carriage House to a guesthouse, and most recently, the construction of the La Maisonneuve building (translated to “New House” in French).

After Ron passed away four years ago and Mary Kay semi-retired, siblings, Bridget Logan Weber and Genevieve Reese assumed the role of managers and have carried on the Logan tradition of providing outstanding dining and accommodations that has earned them the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Rating for excellence for 13 consecutive years.

All rooms are equipped with cable TV, DVD, telephone, AC, a comfortable sitting and reading area, iPod docking stations; an indulgent, soft bathrobe, hairdryer, down-alternative duvets, luxurious triple sheeting, free Wi-Fi and private bath well-stocked with environmentally-friendly amenities. Additionally, a complimentary cheese and fruit plate, decanter of Sherry and turndown service with Godiva chocolates are graciously provided to guests.

Dining at The French Manor is a personalized experience guests will relish. Whether you’re seated at a table with a view of the stone veranda and landscape or beside the fireplaces, the atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. The maître d’hôtel and waiters are well-versed and were eager to describe ingredients and flavors associated with each menu item. Gluten free bread and rolls are locally-made and readily available for diners who have a taste for carbohydrates and an intolerance for wheat and gluten. Be sure to let the innkeeper know if you have dietary restrictions and food allergies prior to your arrival. The attire in the dining room is semi-formal, but more casual dining is available on the original bluestone terrace (seasonal and weather permitting) and in Hanna’s Café.
